Leopold’s Ice Cream was founded in 1919 by three brothers from Greece. They learned the art of candy and dessert making from an uncle who had already settled in America. George, Peter and Basil Leopold perfected their secret formulas and created the now world famous Leopold’s Ice Cream.
All of Leopold’s super-premium ice cream is hand crafted in historic downtown Savannah using the original, secret recipes and techniques handed down to Stratton by his father. Many of their toppings and ice cream ingredients and all of their sandwich meats and salads are prepared from scratch by a Leopold’s chef. Great ice cream 🍦 and excellent customer service. The line was a little long but it's worth the wait. They even served iced water to everyone in the line while they're waiting to get inside to order. Btw.. peanut butter chippy flavor is awesome 😎 👍🏻
Worth the 40-ish minute wait in line and had dessert for dinner. The lemon custard and Savannah socialite are must tries. We also had the Japanese cherry blossom ice cream on the side. Very good. Great service overall. Staff members are positive, friendly and have great chemistry working together! One of the owners greets guests at the front door who have waited for so long. They handed out water to those waiting, which was really thoughtful. Try to maintain 6 feet in front of you in line.
Oh Leopold's. Hands down some of the BEST ice cream I have ever had. Don't be fooled by the line, as the workers inside are able to quickly get through everyone. If it is a longer line, I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. We were served cups of water while in line, and all of the employees inside were super helpful. Over our week-long stay in Savannah, we got Leopold's 4 times (at the airport too before we left) and I don't regret it one bit!
